This exhibition thematically and chronologically follows up on the acclaimed 2022 project, which focused on Czech sacred art from 1948–1989. The upcoming exhibition and publication will present and evaluate artworks, architectural modifications, and new constructions in the Czech ecclesiastical environment since 1990, when a fundamental change in the position of churches in the Czech Republic occurred, which significantly impacted artistic and construction activities.
The project is based on a curatorial selection of artistically valuable works and architecture from the wide range of realisations that could emerge without previous restrictions during the period of freedom. It will focus on the sacred spaces of Christian churches, not only Roman Catholic, but also the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, the Czechoslovak Hussite Church, and the Unity of the Brethren.
