Lenka Zavadilová: Lubawka

Lenka Zavadilová's photographic series Lubawka (2025) documents a once important station on the international line connecting Austria-Hungary with Prussia. The author captures the current state of the station complex, where technical monumentality and architectural beauty have transformed into an image of decay, overgrowth, and gradual demise. The series focuses on the contrast between the historical significance of the place and its present appearance. The torsos of the railway infrastructure, the desolate station building, and the devastated surroundings speak of the loss of its original function and the transformation of the landscape. The collection is conceived as a visual testimony not only to the decline of the former transport hub but also of the entire border region.

Invitation to the photographic exhibition Lenka Zavadilová: Lubawka

Lenka Zavadilová is a Czech photographer, educator, and traveler from the Beskydy Mountains. In her work, she focuses primarily on documentary, street, and reportage photography, often with an emphasis on black and white imagery and human stories. She studies at the Institute of Creative Photography of the Silesian University in Opava, where she is professionally mentored by Jindřich Štreit.

She has exhibited in numerous collective exhibitions in the Czech Republic and abroad and has received several awards in photographic competitions for her work. In addition to her artistic work, she also publishes texts on photography and travel. Her work is characterized by a sensitive documentary approach and an interest in everyday life, people, and their environment.
